Welcome to this week’s Wondrous Words Wednesday, hosted by The Bermuda Onion.
Here’s how it works. Find a new word(s)? Blog about it/them and then link up at the host blog.
Here are my words for the week.
Desultory - marked by lack of definite plan, regularity.
Philippic - a discourse or declamation full of bitter condemnation : tirade.
Geek on,
Deanna
I know I've seen desultory before but couldn't define it. I wonder if anyone uses it when they speak. Great words today!
ReplyDeleteI too have seen desultory in reading. I probably even looked it up at the time, but I could not have given a definition. Sometimes it takes several tries for a word to stick in my aging brain.
ReplyDeleteOk, I was way off on desultory and needed this review. Thank you. I wonder where, or who, Phillippic came from?
ReplyDeletePhilippic was new to me. I don't think I've ever seen it in a sentence.
ReplyDeleteBoth new for me.
